Al Thaghab

Geographic Feature:  Fort

Description:  The Arabic word “thaghab" means “hole” in English.  Here the word is used to refer to a “stream or runnel cut in the ground by the flow of running water”. During the rainy season, these streams fill with water and remain there for some time. The area was so named because it is situated in Al Thaghab which derives its geographic name from the fact that during the rainy season the area becomes full of these water-filled streams or runnels which remain in the area for a long period of time. Hence, the area was termed Al Thaghab.
