Description: The Arabic word ‘rufaa’ is derived from the word ‘rufaa’; meaning “elevated” in English. The geographic name of this terrace-like district is derived from the fact that the area overlooks a number of rawdas and valleys situated at lower elevations than the area itself. Hence, was termed Al Rufaa.
